Turning points

Whilst at university Nelson Mandela became increasingly aware of the unjust nature of South African Society.

Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Robben Island prison

Mandela had to resign from the ANC and work underground.

Conducting their own defence they eventually proved to be victorious.

Achievement 

 Mandela was able to finish his degree and qualified as a Lawyer.

 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa.

In 1944 Mandela helped found the ANC Youth League

even he was in jail, He helped to keep other Men’s spirits high and never compromised his political principles when offered earlt release.

Fred Hollows (1929 - 1993 )




1992  :   born  in New Zealand 

1960   :     He got a job in Australia 

1965  :   He was head of the Eye Department at a Sydney hospital.

1970  :    he and his team treated 30,000 people ll over outback Australia 

 1980 :   He  was travelling all over the world to help set up eye health programs in developing countries

1989    :    he was suffering from cancer   

1993   :     Fred died

1902 :       born in  at Hermannsburg (Ntaria)

1903 :       got married 

1936 :      accompanied Battarbee as a cameleer

1944 :     was included in Who's Who in Australia

(1953) :    he was awarded queen Elizabeth II's coronation medal

(1954) :    presented to the Queen in Canberra

(1955) :    he was elected as a member of the Royal Art of new south weles

1949-50 :    refused a grazing licence

1951 :      prevented from building a house on land he bought at Alice Springs

1950s :      he lived independently of the mission in a fringe camp at Morris Soak on the 
                  outskirts of Alice Springs.

1957 :       he was  granted citizenship 

1958 :       he was charged and sentenced to six months imprisonment with labour

1959 :       he died  of hypertensive heart failure
